Inherited Heartbeat

If you listen closely,

You can hear the heartbeats

Echoing across oceans and seas.

Ships laden

With the spirits of our ancestors

Ancient African Kings and Queens.
Uprooted from the rich soil of freedom

To the infertile wasteland of slavery.
A lingering stench

Of the air we now breathe.

A man without a claim to land

Sought to be free.
His mouth demanded silence,

Yet he spoke boldly and freely,

Declaring, "You cannot silence me,

For I am the King of many Queens."

Guided by the light above

And the nurturing hands of love,

We forge a path to a new world.

The freedom I could smell,

The freedom I could see.

Its taste lingers just out of my reach.

Let my children of my children,

And their children,

Make loud footsteps towards victory.
Raise high the torch of liberty,

For it is your fate,

Your legacy, your destiny.

Honor you have attained.

In this beautiful Memorial Garden,

We express appreciation beyond what words can fully convey,

In a display of honor and respect, your bodies lay.

Rows of pristine white stones stand in solemn salute;

Even in death, your bravery and commitment shine through.

On this Memorial Day, for your bravery, we salute you.

Color Her Mother

-A Relationship between a Daughter and Mother is special like no other-

Mom,

From the moment you held me,

you loved, cared for, and protected me.

When my tiny body was weak,

you watched over me until I fell asleep.

When I cried from fatigue,

you held me tightly to soothe me.

Each day, you nourished me and at night,

you tucked me in, only to repeat the

daunting task all over again.

When I was in my terrible twos,

you instinctively knew what to do

because you are Mom;

you are the best at what you do.

As I grow older each year, so will your

love for me through every tear.

I remember the silly things that made

you smile, every antic, every joke,

each moment shared was worthwhile.

I recall funny stories that filled our

home with joy and laughter and In those

moments, the world we knew felt perfect;

nothing else mattered.

Thank you, Mom, for loving me.

HOLIDAY BELLS

It 's a New Year

I believe in the magical wishes and possibilities.
Granted through the power of these

Three things; Faith, Hope, and Charity.

Three wishing bells I seek.
Hang them up High, Hang them down low,
Hang them around the mistletoe.

As the brisk winds whisk and spin,

The magical bells begin to sing

In sync with what my heart thinks.
At the stroke of midnight, joyful noise will

Sound a ring and spread cheer

In the air and around the globe everywhere.

As the countdown of one year passes into

Into the future of a brand New Year.
You shall hear the magical sound of

Well wishes, laughter and happy tears,

As we vow before God to make

This year a better year.

It’s All About The Feast

Happy Thanksgiving From My Family To Yours

Look here y'all, we are about to eat,

Fixing to choke down on this Turkey Day feast.

Now, don’t go getting me all wrong

I'm as grateful as I can be.

But, let's keep it on the real real,

Turkey Day won’t be the same without that meat.

Y'all know it's true, you agree,

cause some of Y'all won't show til it's time to eat.

Go ahead and laugh, it's ok,

I’m just keeping it real on this Turkey Day.

So, as I break down this meal plan,

Don’t hesitate to jump in and lend a hand.

Cause we got turkeys to stuff, hams to glaze,

Specialty pies, and cakes to bake.

We want all cooks and non-cooks alike.

We don't disgraced, not on Turkey Day.

So, don’t be ashamed, drop in with your li'l

Store-bought sweets.

It’s a family affair and a Turkey Day Feast.

SPECIAL DAY TODAY

Today is a very special day.

Listen with to hear what it has to say.

If you awake today

with your mental state in place,

give God the glory and praise.

If your reasoning is coherent, have no fear and

know that God’s presence is still here.

If your eyes open with clear vision,

thank God, you don't have a need for an optician.

If you wake up with a sense of smell,

take a minute to inhale

the sweet essence of life.

If you open your mouth and are able to speak

with words that flow freely,

even without much to say,

sing aloud God’s praises anyway.

Today, if you were blessed with the gift of taste,

indulge freely from God's plate.

Relish in the nourishing fruits of His spirit and

don't hesitate to take some home with you.

Savor the flavors of love, joy, and peace.

Take a little patience, kindness,

and goodness to go.

Grab a handful of faithfulness, gentleness,

while maintaining self-control.

If the rhythm of your heart beats free,

expressing love should come naturally and

if your arms and hands are physically capable,

then show your love by giving a hug.

If you are able to bend your knees,

then bow down and worship our Lord and King.

If you are only able to stand,

show an act of praise with your free hands.

If you can walk by the movement of your feet,

why not walk out this day in kindness and peace?

Put your thoughts, hopes, and dreams in a bottle, send them off to heaven, and see what follows. QB

Did you not know?

That it is the power of God that leads our way

despite the circumstances and trials we face?

Like so…

Did you take a moment

to welcome God's presence today?

Did you offer Him praise for the dawning

of a new day, or did you hurry, in a rush,

to go about your merry way?

Did you express your gratitude for the sun's

radiant beams or for the cool breeze

that merges with the air you freely breathe?

Did you pause long enough to perceive

the quiet calling of your name and

did you thank Him for removing the

sorrows that may have caused you pain?

Did you acknowledge the protective

barrier around you, a formidable wall

built so your foes cannot break through?

Did you remember to count your blessings

along the way, or did you bother to say,

Lord, what can I do for you today?

Did you have the courage to ask,

"Lord, what's your will that I may fulfill?"
